Dedicated to consumer protection and environmental safety since 1919

Founded in 1919, the Schaap company now operates as four different companies at four locations. The management of the company is now held by the third generation. 

Over time, the Schaap Company now provides a variety of services to its customers. It is now a one-stop-shop for all your disposal needs starting from rendering, production of animal feed, fuels, raw materials for oleochemicals and the biodiesel industry. In addition to that, we now also provide r efficient dewatering and drying of sewage sludge so that you can contribute to society by being a responsible citizen.

Foundation of the company by Jean Schaap in Neustadt am Rübenberge

1941

Authorization for the recycling of animal carcasses without quantity restrictions granted by the "District President (DP) Münster”

1942

Commissioning of the newly built TBA (rendering plant) in Heek

1969

Permission from Ahaus district without quantity restriction

1973

Changeover to screw pressing method

1975

Commissioning of our own sewage treatment plant (Zarnack system)

1979

Approval of 140 daily tons of processing quantity (by DP Münster)

1980

Commissioning of the first biofilter

1990

Approval of 300 t/d processing quantity (by DP Münster)

1997

Extension of the catchment area to Lower Saxony: County of Bad Bentheim

1998

Move to the new office building

2000

Extension of the catchment area to the entire district of Steinfurt

Review of the operation by the EU Commission

Total feed ban of meat and bone meal and animal fat in Germany

2001

Expansion of the industrial wastewater treatment plant

2002

Approval of 540 tons of processed quantity per day (by StUA Herten)

Burning of animal fat in both steam boilers, substitution of fossil fuels

2003

Entry into force of Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down health rules concerning by-products not intended for human consumption [(EC) No 1774/2002]

2004

New construction of a raw materials hall at the Heek site

Conversion of the processing plant in Heek to process Category 3 animal by-products

2005

First activities in the Rhineland

2006

Construction of a second raw material hall in Heek

2007

Construction of an additional processing line for Category 1 materials in Heek

Acquisition of Gustav Denzin GmbH in Viersen

Permission for dewatering and drying of sewage sludge at the Heek site

Approval of the second processing line for the processing of animal Category 1 by- products

Foundation of the Klärschlamm-Verwaltungs-Gesellschaft Münsterland mbH (Sewage sludge-Management-Company)

New construction of the entire reception area at the Denzin site in Viersen
